My Story
“If you do not answer the noise and urgency of your gifts, they will turn on you. Or drag you down with their immense sadness at being abandoned.”
Joy Harjo, Mvskoke Nation, US Poet Laureate
I am the beneficiary of a village of love and support, curated by my single mother. As a little Indigenous and Latinx kid, I grew up in the Midwest and later transplanted to the San Francisco Bay Area to begin my college experience at Stanford University. I was first-generation, low income, and grateful for the opportunity to be in an environment that challenged me in ways I never could have imagined. I studied Psychology, with a focus on how the mind, culture, and society interact and inform one another. I found my passion for understanding the unique qualities of the individual and how they can be so deeply influenced by the groups, environments, and cultures in which we exist.
When I realized a cookie-cutter, post-college trajectory wasn’t for me, I joined the Student Affairs staff at my alma mater, working with students in a variety of ways. I watched carefully and took opportunities to grow in any way possible. Whether client services, budgets, operations, or management, each experience created a new facet to my strengths. In spite of my best efforts, I eventually found myself in a place of stress, frustration, and a sense of feeling stuck. In seemingly perfect timing, a colleague reached out to me and felt my strengths matched a new position as a Well-Being Coach. The role was a transformational moment that allowed me to support students’ complex lives and help them improve their well-being. As well, I had the opportunity to continue my coaching training and further refine my coaching skills.
Through a globally respected education and certification from the Co-Active Training Institute, a membership with the Internation Coaching Federation, as well as a certification from the Protocol School of Washington, I have launched the career of a lifetime. I continue my well-being work and have expanded my practice to serve anyone wanting to evoke transformation in their journey. My work is dedicated to helping others create meaningful movement and positive change in their lives. I’m honored to do this work.
